The Nursing Narratives Project are proud to be able to release the testimonies of their nurse participants. You are invited to watch and circulate these powerful stories!

The Project Background:

In the first month of the UK lockdown, 72% of the NHS and social care staff who died were from BME backgrounds. Nursing Narratives: Racism and the Pandemic is a collaborative project that will use documentary film and writing to amplify the experiences and perspectives of black and minority ethnic health workers.

The Ukrainian refugee crisis has already begun (the UN reports)

The United Nations has estimated that about 100,000 Ukrainians have already been displaced as a result of the Russian invasion, and that number could ultimately grow to 1 to 5 million. The international community is making preparations to meet their humanitarian needs — though perhaps not quickly enough.

Just hours after Russia’s assault began on Thursday morning, there were massive traffic jams, sold-out train tickets, and long lines at ATMs in Kyiv as people tried to flee with little clue as to how long they might be gone or if they’ll return.

The NHS Race & Health Observatory has published its much anticipated rapid review into ethnic health inequalities across a range of areas including key priorities set by the independent health body.

Ethnic inequalities in access to, experiences of, and outcomes of healthcare are longstanding problems in the NHS, and are rooted in experiences of structural, institutional and interpersonal racism. This report is the first of its kind to analyse the overwhelming evidence of ethnic health inequality through the lens of racism.
