Police handcuff 12-year-old girl

Police could be sued by a mother who says officers handcuffed her 12-year-old daughter during a raid in her home.

“We are in the process of taking legal action,” said Tina Ayres.

Ayres said her daughter was left traumatised on Monday (April 30) after officers barged into her home in Tottenham, north London and handcuffed her daughter.

Ayres said she was on her way to work in Haringey, north London when she got a distressing call from her daughter, Pasha Ayres- Solomon.

Cops pledge CCTV in police vans after campaign

London’s Metropolitan Police commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe has announced his intention to install CCTV cameras in all police cars and vans. 

This has been a demand of the families of those who have died in police custody for many years. Hogan-Howe told the LBC radio station, “If we misbehave it will capture it, but, equally, for the people who misbehave or make false allegations, it will capture it.”

But he added, “We have got to have a conversation with our staff because they may feel threatened by that.”

Investigation commences after man shot five times by police

Following a number of complaints being made over the police shooting a man, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) announced that an investigation is underway. The 25-year-old man was shot and tasered multiple times by Met police officers in Forest Hill, south London on February 19 after officers responded to an emergency call.

Firearms officers discharged five bullets and several taser rounds into the man, who sustained abdominal, groin, hand and leg injuries.
