MPs should be “dragged” from parliament to see Grenfell Tower’s shell as a reminder of how their decisions caused the disaster, a firefighter has said.

Lucy Masoud, who worked on the recovery operation after the fire that killed around 80 people, blamed the tragedy on government austerity measures and a contempt for social housing tenants.

Speaking at the Stand Up To Racism national conference, the Chelsea-based firefighter said her colleagues would never get over their experiences on the night of 14 June.

Three police officers told repeated lies about a cloth being placed over the head of a mental health patient who later died, a court has heard.

Kingsley Burrell died aged 29, four days after being detained by police.

Jurors heard the men may have “put their heads together” and agreed to lie after the death in March 2011.

Paul Adey, 36, Mark Fannon, 45, and Paul Greenfield, 50, are on trial at Birmingham Crown Court, and deny charges of perjury.

Police were ‘unprofessional’ in the aftermath of teenager Ellis Downes’ tragic death, an investigation has found.

Three police officers at Thames Valley Police will face misconduct ‘meetings’ after the Independent Police Complaints Commission released its report this morning.

Harwell 16-year-old Ellis drowned in the River Thames in Culham on May 7, 2016, after getting into trouble while swimming.
