Mumia Abu-Jamal remembers South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who died on Sunday at the age of 90. Tutu was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for fighting to end apartheid in South Africa. In 2007, Tutu visited Mumia when he was still on death row.
“His spirit reflected a giant,” says Abu-Jamal. “He struggled for change with his prophetic voice, his sweet humor, his deep love and his boundless sense of compassion.”

A lawsuit was filed this week against a Fort Worth foster care organization and its employees, accusing them of failing to follow proper requirements in the care of a 3-year-old who died last year.
The parents of Amari Boone, represented by The Button Law Firm, filed the lawsuit Monday in Dallas against ACH Child and Family Services in Fort Worth. Rodney Boone and Ariana George believe the foster care agency failed to keep their son safe from abuse by his foster parents, according to the lawsuit. Amari died April 12, 2020, after his third emergency visit to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Hollyoaks’ Richard Blackwood has revealed that he hopes people will be ‘more receptive’ to his upcoming project in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Typical, a play by Ryan Calais Cameron, tells the true story of former paratrooper Christopher Alder, 37, who choked to death while handcuffed and lying on the floor of a police station in Hull in 1998. The inquest jury in 2000 returned a verdict of unlawful killing, and in 2002, five police officers went on trial, but all the officers were acquitted on the orders of the judge. The play originally premiered at the Soho Theatre back in 2019.
Richard – who portrays Felix Westwood in Hollyoaks — recorded the show in the summer of 2020 as Black Lives Matter protests took place all around the world following the death of George Floyd.
