I’m writing on behalf of my brother Jaslyn Ricardo Smith a Category B prisoner who is currently serving a 2 Strike Automatic Life sentence at HMP Frankland. Though sentenced to a minimum term (the tariff) of 3 1/2 years he is now in his 13th year of the sentence and has always maintained his innocence. We the family also believe the conviction to be unsafe.

My brother was arrested on 8th May 1998 for the alleged rape of his then girlfriend, several hours after the police were called, his then girlfriend reported to them that she had been raped, she was then taken to hospital by the police for an examination. At the hospital her only complaint was of being beaten up no mention of rape, she was then examined by the hospital doctor for injuries, which may have been caused by the assault.

Death Row Briton Linda Carty talks about her controversial conviction

Since losing what may well be her last appeal in September, Linda Carty has had to deal with a lot of unsettling comments.

“They’ve come both from other inmates and guard’s; she says. “I hear them asking, “How come she’s still here? How come she hasn’t been executed?” All I can do is ignore it.

“Since the appeal, they’ve moved me to a cell that feels like it’s 115 degrees inside. My nose bleeds every day – sometimes I get through four T-shirts. The doctor said the reason is the heat.”

There has been more news of the non-disclosure and it really don’t look good for Strathclyde police with statements hidden, so it looks like back to the privy council about the growing list of Non-disclosure in the case.

Brendan now can get the new evidence and prove Lee Sheville and Toni Wallace lied in court, also Joseph Leiper can be proven to have lied in court they never mentioned the visitors to the house that seen Brendan fixing a car that morning. (There were 6 visitors the police being one for a domestic between the householders, and a midwife among others.

We are still trying to get the phone records for My Daughter’s mobile that the police have and our house incoming and outgoings for that day.
